     # ATAN

## “ATAN”

Used for – “ATAN” is used find the value of arctangent in radians of the angle which is written in numbers in MS excel and display the end result achieved.

Syntax – ATAN(Number).

Example – Let us continue with the example of TAN, we have a value in cell B2 0.57735 & value in cell C2 -6.40533 which comes as result of formula TAN and wants excel tells the value of arctangent of these numbers then you can write up the formula as =ATAN(B2) in cell B3 & =ATAN(C2) in cell C3 and Excel came with answer 0.523599 & 30 respectively which is the value equal to arctangent of number 0.57735 & -6.40533. See example below:-
 A B C D E F G H I 1 30 =RADIANS(A1) =DEGREES(B1) 2 =TAN(B1) =TAN(C1) 3 =ATAN(B2) =ATAN(C2) 4 5 6 7

And result you get as under:-
 A B C D E F G H I 1 30 0.523599 30 2 0.57735 -6.40533 3 0.523599 30 4 5 6 7

You can check it yourself by copy the highlighted table and pasting in the first cell of the spread sheet.
NOTE:- Here you must note that this formula gives answer only in radians as per default. So please always converts the answer using DEGREE formula.
